Tour of the Cotopaxi & Quilotoa volcanoes - 1 Day

Tour of the Cotopaxi & Quilotoa volcanoes on the same day is a blast, this private tour has an early start, in order to accomplish both of these activities 6:30 am

Today you will get close to the massive Cotopaxi volcano and be able to take all the pictures that you have just seen in books and magazines. Learn about the medicinal plants that are found in this area, about its eruptive history and its wildlife, but mainly, enjoy the beautiful landscapes this national park offers its visitors.

Today, two nice hikes await you:

1.- An easy hike around the Limpiopungo lagoon and 2.- A quite steep and demanding hike, from the parking lot @ 4500 to the shelter @ 4800 m that is the challenge of this tour (this hike is optional). After these activities, you will go for a snack at the snack bar and continue with the tour towards, the Quilotoa Lagoon.

On the way, you can take a nap so that your batteries get recharged for the hike once at the Quilotoa, although it is highly recommended to enjoy the breathtaking views of this area, from Pujili onwards there are amazing views as you start going higher up.

At the Quilotoa Lagoon the tour continues, there is the option to go for a hike into the lake through the hiking trail, or just enjoy the beauty of the lake and its changing color tones from the lookout point. Visit the handicraft shop,  have lunch or something to drink from the several restaurants in this beautiful little village hidden in the highlands. Also take a look at the small shops their masks, paintings that tell several tales and stories of their daily lives and other interesting handicrafts made by the locals.
